Neil Gaiman, author of this year’s Newberry Award for Graveyard, has an interesting blog at http://journal.neilgaiman.com/ He is also the author of Coraline which recently came out as a movie. I recommend his works for middle level readers. Who could resist the story of a boy raised ghosts, ghouls, and werewolves?

So I’m definitely a fan of Neil. For older audiences, I would definitely recommend Good Omens. Also, Stardust was an amazing novel for all ages and was recently a major motion picture with Clair Danes and Robert Deniro…but like any bookworm, I think the written work was far superior.
